App of the Day: Draw Something

As my mobile-gaming interest grows larger, I decided to step down from battery and processor intensive games like Shadowgun and Modern Combat, and instead replaced it with more puzzle based games that I could play for hours in school, while my battery life increased, and the rate of my education decreased. One game that I found addictive, and fun, was Draw Something. With both free, paid, and in-app purchases available, the game is open to pretty much anyone with an Android or iOS device. The game sets up with two people, one person given 3 words to pick at separate difficulties; easy, medium, and hard, which reward the users based upon the completion of the assigned difficulties. When a player picks a word, they are given a canvas with 4 basic colors: black, red, yellow, and blue, to try to draw the word that was selected. After you are finished, you send the move over to the other player, through a cross-platform server, allowing for users on Android to play against users on iOS. The receiving end must then guess what the word is using a 2 by 5 grid of letters. A bomb button is placed, in case an image is stumping someone, allowing them to cut down the amount of letters to narrow down the options. The objective of the game is to guess the images back and forth between turns for as long as possible. Every round that is completed successfully, the two participants are rewarded with coins; an in-app currency used to buy things such as extra bombs (you have a limited amount) and extra colors to give your illustration extra detail, and help your partner guess it right.
