News: Nokia Says the Nexus 7 Infringes on its WiFi Patents
It looks like the launch of the Nexus 7 won’t happen without a few bumps in the road. The Inquirer is reporting that the ASUS and Google tablet is using Nokia’s WiFi patents without a license. Nokia claims the two companies never approached them to use the patents. According to the report, Nokia will most likely not jump into another legal war like other companies like to do, but will simply as for a royalty.
This may not seem like that big of a deal, but Google has already said that it is not making any money on the Nexus 7. Having to pay a per-device royalty, will further hurt the company’s wallets.
