Samsung’s 2012 Galaxy S III flagship launched just before Google’s announcement of Jelly Bean. And while it took Samsung quite a while to update its Galaxy S II to Ice Cream Sandwich, it looks like that won’t be the case with Android 4.1 and the Galaxy S III. Samsung confirmed to CNET today that the international, unlocked model of the S III will be receiving Android 4.1 in October, though no specific date was mentioned. As far as the U.S. variants go, it could be a little while before they see an update, as the carriers must approve it first.

We’ll be sure to let you know when the update starts to roll out.

Google’s Play Store is starting to receive an update which includes preliminary support for gift cards. Android Police has been keeping track of its disassembly, and alongside the screenshot provided (via @HomerSp), it’s been discovered that images referring to “Wishlists” have been included as well as sone functionality.

Supporting gift cards and wish lists will bring Play Store up top the big leagues of marketplaces but unfortunately still lagging behind others such as Amazon or even Apple. That’s part of the problem though; everyone is doing it. A new way of doing things is needed, something innovative; the question is who will be first.

The Huawei MediaPad, dubbed the Springboard on T-Mobile, is the predecessor to Huawei’s new MediaPad 10 FHD. While the Springboard hasn’t received too much attention, T-Mobile took to their support forums to confirm that on August 15th, they will deploy an over-the-air update for the Springboard, bringing it from Android 3.2 to 4.0.4. Aside from all of the features that are included by default in ICS, T-Mobile is also providing for improved WiFi, better memory allocation, and a ton of new features.

Any Springboard owners out there? No? Okay.

This is huge for a number of reasons. One is that the app is now a lot more secure. Google Wallet use to store all of your information on your device, but it is now all stored in the cloud.

HTC has been rather mum on device-specific Jelly Bean updates so far, but Telstra has revealed a little tidbit regarding the sweet flavored O.S. The carrier has posted on its its website that HTC is “preparing” a Jelly Bean update for the One S and One XL. The One XL is the international version of the One X. The listing says that HTC is “yet to confirm the date it will be submitted for Telstra testing.” I wouldn’t get too excited yet, as it could be months before the update is available.

Earlier this month, HTC said that it is “excited” about Jelly Bean and plans to support it on a variety of devices.

Changes and bugfixes in this update include:
